Crypto-Brandonites and other Beta-folk

Blessed are the Brandonites
for they shall inherit Boolean Tautologies
and the Beta-Reductions held within

Unknown, foolish, author

The self-titled Tribe of Brandon, followers of the Jorsalian Exile (counting among them Arch-Rabbi Darch of great stature and weak mind), are as an ethnographic and sociological phenomenon not yet fully understood. Their scholarly corpus, espoused especially by the academic outcast Yanolf from Ararat, is much studied, yet somehow even more mysterious to modern minds.

At the heart of this elusive society, and both lock & key to their knowledge, is the concept of the Grammarless Grammar, an integration of algebra and Kabbalah which is said to prove all that is True, but to the unbeliever also all that is False: a logical gambit which sacrifices reason for faith, a universal arithmetic of non-prime Primes.

While accomplishing no mainstream Rabbinic acceptance, echoes of the Grammarless Grammar (pronounced in Wordless Words) are heard still over afternoon tea in learned places. Yes, you have most likely met Him, this Eternal Student – not inside the lecture hall, but waiting just outside, pondering Eternity. Though they remain hidden, and indeed enjoy this air of mystique, the Crypto-Brandonites are certainly among us.

By Horatiu “The Living Liar” Griffen

You came into this world screaming, my Yankal.

That primal yell continued to echo throughout your days. Always seeking.

Even the clouded skies are silent now, on your passing. They do not mourn, no! In reverence they welcome you into their domain.

Romania is ever young, ever old. You saw great conflicts ebb and flow around you. The greatest struggle was always within, always internal.

You are gone now (moved on, that is, beyond our senses), but your grand contribution in the Krimean tradition will sing through any age that may come.

Yes, even if our valley should fall again into illogical darkness, your firm axioms will shine through: Beacons of greater knowledge, beacons of ancient tradition. Beacons of eternal Krim!

You left this world in silence, my Yankal.

Go on, now. To Elysium, to Valhalla, to the Vale Migdale. All arms, for you, are open.

Majahi na-majahi. Majahi ha-mare, Majahi Livare!

Jacob Krim – Migrations in the Americas. Part III.

In the latter half of the eighteenth century Krim returned to the westernmost continent, hearing the people there were in uproar. He enlisted in the 6th company of the Northampton Militia and fought under the great Capt. John Trexler.  While he did not choose to be a military leader himself, he kept the moral of the men high, sharing his knowledge on boolean algebra and graph theory.

The war ended, the Krimean Militia the victors! Krim himself however had disappeared, nowhere to be found. Rumours were many, but most of his followers believed he had more important works in other, far away, lands.  It is however known that before he vanished he bought land and restarted his academy, hoping to continue the work he previously had abandoned in the fair town of Jocotepec.

It is not known for how long the academy lived, some say it still does!

Gregorius Nerich – Our Fable of Malevolence

There are many tales of Gregorius Nerich. Some true, most false. Rumors say that he had a close friendship with Lucifer and sold his soul to Vladimyr Tepes to gain control of the Mures valley. During his time as almighty ruler his gruesome acts did not contribute to silence those rumors. The people suffered under a inhumane laws, famine and false propositions. I am not proud to call this man a relative, however so distant.

It is said that Gregorius thrived in his almond tree gardens. His favourite activity was to linger in the shadow of an almond tree helping himself to its almonds. In many aspects of his life Gregorius was man most calm and gay. The source of his anger and evil is still unknown, but it is well known that it was real. Many believe that the great famine of 1641 was a result of Gregorius’ great love for almonds, and false propositions and conjectures throughout his reign made the people of the valley frustrated. Deceiving tautologies of Boolean algebra were the cause of despair for many scholars in the valley, and lead to countless suicides of the mind. One would call Gregorius’ acts criminal, yet people did not. It is said that the word “criminal”, or “criminale” in Romanian, had a sweet tune to the Mures townsfolk, and was hence believed to be a word of sanctuary, not evil.

It was not until the eighteen century that the Gregorian spell was abolished from all of Mures. The legend has it that this was the result from a Crimean act, a Transylvanian Circumvolution. The act falsified the beastly Nerich logic and made his electoral running time exponential. However tortoise like, Gregorius did not die and remained an important instance of the Nerich family. As legend goes he swore his return to the Mures valley and eternal anguish upon all those who disobeyed him.
